Your council is a corporate body, a legal entity separate from that of its members. Its decisions are the responsibility of the whole body. The Council has been granted powers by Parliament including the important authority to raise taxes (the Precept) and a range of powers to spend public money. The Community Council’s powers are not extensive, however, and the Council must always follow three basic rules in its activities:
Discussion and decision making generally takes place at meetings of the FULL COUNCIL, which will normally be held on the third Monday of each month in the Village Hall. Details of the timing and agendas for these meetings will be posted on the Parish Notice Boards and Website during the week before each meeting. Occasionally other meetings will be arranged to discuss urgent business. Notice of such meeting will be given in the same manner as for “Ordinary Meetings”.
Every member is governed by the mandatory Code of Conduct whilst acting in their capacity as a Community Councillor.
More details of the conduct of Council business can be found at the links on this page.
